Common Concerns Patients Have Before Trying Chiropractic

Often times, when I do a consultation with a new patient, they have concerns or fears before trying chiropractic, so in an effort to ease some of those concerns, let me address the most common ones that I hear.
"DR. ROMAN, I'VE HEARD THAT CHIROPRACTIC CARE CAN HURT YOU." I want to let everyone reading this know that I've heard it to, and the worst side effect that I have seen in over 6 years of practice is soreness after a treatment. I work on infants as young as 3 weeks old, and seniors over 80 years old, and the techniques we use are safe and based on what each individual patient needs. Chiropractic is physical, and when you work with the body, if it is not used to being worked on, or if this is the first time you've had any work done in some time, then it's just like working out for the first time at a gym, you can be a little sore afterward.

And I don't often bring this up, but my malpractice insurance is cheaper than my car insurance, and that is for the same level of coverage as any medical provider. Most medical providers malpractice insurance are 20-30,000.00 and that's just for a primary care provider. Chiropractors simply do not hurt people, that is why it's so low.

Another concern that I hear come up is that "once you start chiropractic you have to keep going for the rest of your life." Whenever I hear this, I do smile inside, because there is just no way that I would need to see someone forever. With that said, I do get regular chiropractic adjustments, and this keeps me healthy. It's like going to a dentist. You go every few months to maintain you teeth at a healthy level, your spine is no different. It's amazing to me, with how stressful and demanding our lives have become, that more people don't take good care of their spine. And after several years in practice, I've just realized there are two ways of dealing with physical pain, and discomfort, either medicate it and put it off until you will eventually have to deal with it; or get chiropractic care and get rid of the problem.

And finally, often times what I hear from people that are hesitant to try chiropractic, is that they think it's too expensive. Everyone has financial concerns, and that's why at our office we don't turn anyone down for financial consideration. We will always try and work with our patient's finances to make sure they get the care they need and at a cost they can afford.

Yours in Health,

Dr. Roman
